Madan Fruit Tree (garcinia schomburgkiana)

Delicate pink, tiny, waxy flowers cover the branches on the mostly wild tree. Developing fruit called Mandan are rich in vitamin A and calcium, severely sour and typically packed in syrup or pickled. The young leaves of Mandan are served as a vegetable accompaniment to many Thai dishes and can be eaten either raw or cooked. This small 15 to 30-foot tree with its smaller fruit are perfect for the small urban garden or patio.
