Twisted Cord Flower Bush (strophanthus caudatus)

Otherworldly flowers pop open in a showy display of long red tendrils that twist off each flowers petal tip with distinctive red striping down the throat of the tubular shaped bloom. Blooming clusters are produced multiple times during the summer offering an almost constant display for the gardener to enjoy. Adopting more of a climbing habit, the branches can extend up to 38 feet or more and perform well, if assistance in the form of a wall or trellis is provided for support. Grown as an ornamental in the tropical garden the Caudatus plant easily adapts to growing well in a container on a patio, if kept trimmed and maintained.
